IRMA DORANTES   Her brilliant career as a singer, performer, and star of radio and television earned her the very first “Symbol of Appreciation” Award from the Hispanic Heritage Society in 2003.  She was a part of the golden era of Mexican cinema and creator of the spectacular musical show that triumphed throughout Mexico, Latin America and North America.  From the beginning, her professional life coincided with that of the legend that was Pedro Infante, who became the love of her life.


 

ALONDRA is a Multi-Platinum Latin Grammy Nominated Artist, Billboard Award winner and International Dance Music nominated recording artist who became a teenage Idol in the early 80's, also known as "La Madrina de Menudo" for having a group of teenagers open for her concerts, eventually becoming the world famous "Menudo". She performed in 4 "OTI" contests and was named Billboard's Best New Artist 1981at her early teenage years. Her carrer expanded for 6 years and 6 albums with Discos RAFF, Melody and Fonovisa then retiring completely from the music scene to look over her kids. In 2003 Alondra returned to music with a Regional Mexican music album which awarded her with a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Grupero Album of the Year a complete shift from her early "Pop" music years. In 2004 she recorded an album with 5 diferent music formats including "Trance" a first for a Mexican Recording Artist, the Song "No se porque" in colaboration with one of the best selling european trance producers "Sash!". Alondra has released 3 more albums since, working with some of the world top DJs and Producers, one of them produced an official tribute song for the German 2006 Soccer Worldcup. Alondra and her "Dance" music have been recently certified one of the most listened Latin recording acts around the world.

 ALBERTO ANGEL “EL CUERVO"   Singer, Painter, Writer, born in Minatitlán, Veracruz, México, he has a long successful career in the recording industry with more than 40 productions.  He has participated in the most popular programs on television, winning national and international prizes for his singing and style.  He received the “Premio Jalisco” as the best singer of traditional Mexican songs.  As a painter he has had various expositions in Mexico and internationally.  As a writer he has published 5 books, the most recent being “Del Amor al Odio y otras Recetas” (From Love to Hate and Other Recipes).  The Hispanic Heritage Society takes great pleasure in welcoming him to this great celebration.
 

 

JORGE CORREA  Young Mexican talent with innovative ideas, graduate of the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City.  In a very short time he has recorded several music albums.  The Premios “Lo Nuestro” distinguished him for his successful theme, “Carmelina.”   The Hispanic Heritage Society is grateful for his brilliant interpretation in the Awards ceremony of 2006.  Welcome to San Antonio once again to share your enthusiasm in support of our cultural mission.

IRMA CARLON  Great interpreter of the Bolero style, she was born in Puebla, Mexico.  Her career as an actress and singer began when she was very young.  Her talent, her voice and her interpretative qualities allowed her to rise quickly, participating in many famous programs on radio and television, such as “Variedades de Medianoche.”  RCA Víctor Records launched her with extraordinary success with various recordings.  She has participated in various festivals such as the OTI representing Mexico in Belgium and Poland.  She was chosen by several famed composers, among them Vicente Garrido and Mario Ruiz Armengol, to interpret their songs.   Her professional career and her personal life have allowed her to live long periods of time in countries such as France, Spain, and now the United States.  The Society deeply appreciates her valuable participation in this Awards ceremony.
